Service Description:
Project SEARCH is an international transition to work programme committed to transforming the lives of young people with learning disabilities and autism.

Project SEARCH is now in Medway and is opening its new programme at Medway Maritime Hospital where young people with EHCP’s will have the chance to complete an internship across an academic year. This internship will give them access to different departments at the hospital including clinical teams, hospitality and catering, maintenance, admin, retail, domestics and more.

Interns will be supported day to day by a job coach who will help them navigate the world of work and support them to be successful. They will also work with an onsite tutor to help them make progress within English and Maths and develop further employability skills.

Project SEARCH is committed to being:
•An aspirational programme where people believe in your ability to grow, develop, work and contribute to society
•A true transition programme – taking all the best from the education system and transplanting it into an employer's premises
•Providing quality training and internship experience
•An opportunity to work in high-profile organisation
•Develop strength areas in a supportive setting
•Work toward independence in many areas such as public transport, daily living skills, etc
Project SEARCH has an excellent record for previous success and is a national organisation with a well established programme that could help young people with additional needs into employment.

The Medway Maritime Hospital Project SEARCH is working with Forward2Employment and charity ThinkForward.
