Service Description: | We provide support to families in Medway where a parent is struggling with their emotional health or well-being during pregnancy and the first 3 years after birth. Our Pregnancy to Three Support Service is for parents who have, or are at risk of developing, mild to moderate mental health issues, including anxiety and post-natal depression.
We provide support to parents in two ways, according to their needs and situation. We can providing a trained one-to-one Volunteer Peer Supporter who can offer emotional support inside the home, and help parents to access services in their local community.
We also offer small and welcoming baby groups, baby massage courses, stay and play sessions, and a dad’s group. Child and Family Support Worker Volunteers attend these groups alongside Family Action staff to support in delivery of these services.
In order to deliver this service we invite volunteer applications from those who understand the challenges of family life, are empathetic, caring and calm, and who are able to spare a few hours each week to help in one of the above roles. Full training and ongoing support will be provided.
The service is for parents and their children up to their third birthday. Volunteers are required to be 18+ with no upper age limit.
Parents are referred by their Health Visitor, Midwife, GP or other health professional although we also welcome self-referrals and referrals from within the community including Children and Family Centres, Schools etc. Volunteers can contact us directly to register their interest and find out more.
