KIDS provides independent support, a Department for Education funded project aimed at supporting parent carers and young people through the transfer process from a statement to an Education Health and Care Plan or through new assesments. This is a free and confidential service providing advice and information about the legal requirements.

In addition, KIDS, provides short breaks, funded through direct payments or the social care team. These are aimed at disabled children and young people, providing time in the community or activities in the home.
