Service Description:The programme is a full-time course supporting students to achieve high quality, paid and sustained employment at the end of the internship. Supported Internships are for students with learning difficulties and/or autism in Swale or Medway who have an Education, Health and Care Plan and are aged 16-24.
This programme suits students who want to work and who learn best by ‘doing’. It comprises two elements of support:
1. A work placement A specialised job coach will work with the student to find a good fit with one of our partner organisations. The intern will ‘learn on the job’ with the ongoing support of their coach and the employer.
2. Functional Skills Students attend one day a week studying the application of Maths and English in the real world, focusing on any learning gaps from the workplace.
