Homestart helps to increase the confidence and independence of families by:
- Visiting families in their own homes to offer support, friendship and practical assistance
- Reassuring parents that their childcare problems are not unusual or uniquel
- Encouraging parents' strengths and emotional well-being for the ultimate benefit of their children
- Trying to get the fun back into family life.

Home-Start is a local charity that have a community network of trained volunteers who prove support to families with young children through their challenging times. We are there for parents when they need us the most because childhood can’t wait.

Being a parent has never been easy. It can be
lonely, frustrating, heartbreaking and
overwhelming. Home-Start Medway's vision
is to ensure every parent/carer has the
support they need to give their child/ren the
best start in life, as childhood cannot wait.
Life-changing events can happen to anyone.
All parents struggle at one time or another.
That is why Home-Start Medway is ready to
support families through their toughest times.
Home-Start Medway work with families
experiencing challenges, such as:
o Domestic Abuse
o Poor mental or physical health
o Postnatal depression
o Multiple children under 5
Our ambition is to:
o Help parents/carers in Medway grow ina
confidence
o Help parents/carers strengthen their
relationships with their child/ren
o Widen their links within the local
community
o Ensure all children in Medway feel safe
in their home environment.
How we can help:
Through a team of trained volunteers and
staff we provide a range of services to
families. These include:
o Home-visiting support
o Family Groups
o 1-1 support and groups for our Forces
families
o Domestic Abuse Support
o Trips & events during school holidays
All of our services are based around the
principle that volunteers and staff offer
non-judgmental support, just
compassionate and confidential help.
