Provider details
Service Description:The Me2 Programme is a peer-to-peer mentor programme which aims to counter the negative attitudes and social barriers that often prevent young people with a disability or additional need from taking part in mainstream youth provisions.
We match our trained mentors with a mentee who has a disability or additional need. We then ask mentors to commit to giving up two hours of their time once a week to provide ongoing support at a youth club, sports provision or leisure activity for their matched peer mentee - this can be for up to 20 weeks. There are two ways to become involved in the Me2 Programme. Our mentees are 11 - 19 years old and our trained mentors are 15 - 19. We ensure that our young people are able to access a youth provision or leisure activity that they will want to keep going to week after week, so we match our young people based on their likes, dislikes and other interests.
